Dave Ortega

Dias De Adversidad

We’ve been big fans of Dave Ortega’s oral history series, Dias De Consuelo from the first issue. This loving portrait of Dave’s grandmother’s family during the Mexican Revolution has been told beautifully through vignettes, historical context, and gorgeous naturalistic artwork. We’re thrilled to add the final issue of the series to our catalog this week.

Congratulations, Dave!

Next Tuesday, August 18th, at 8:00pm we’re hosting the next installment of our series Nuts & Bolts, at which South Florida comics writers, artists, and zinesters talk about their process on various aspects of cartooning. This week we’ll be talking about publishing and printing with writing duo Bear & Bee, cartoonist Allison C.M., and zine team Dale Zine. Registration is required but free: https://forms.gle/iAGw2zWxeADuv2F89

This Friday afternoon we’re hosting our weekly work session, Open Studio at which you can make time to work on your comics. Then that night Ben Passmore will be hosting a workshop entitled Making Comics for the Politically Indifferent for The Believer and The Black Mountain Institute!

All these events are free! Don’t miss out!
