Everydaypants is a one-person comics anthology by Ramsey Beyer. Each year (usually for the Chicago Zine Fest, which she co-founded), Ramsey collects the comics she’s drawn in the past year. In this issue’s introduction, Ramsey describes her efforts as “floundering,” but I found this issue, presented as the comics that happened to be made in 2013 as fairly focused on the theme of reflections on the past.
A chunk of this issue is selections from Ramsey’s book, Little Fish, which focus on her first year in college. Other comics talk about how she got into punk music and the DIY music scene, as well as reconnecting with one of her best friends from her time living in Chicago.
A section of commissioned work by Ramsey is stuck in the middle as a sort of pallet cleanser, some spot illustrations, but a real gem, five pages of pet portraits! Too cute!
