We all get crushes on other people when we’re in a committed relationship. But in I Swallowed the Key to my Heart No. 3, Liz Prince’s flirtatious friendship with Craig endangers her relationship with her boyfriend, Evan. Liz has had past crushes, and not acted on it, but Evan is starting to lay the “committed” part of their relationship on thick, and Liz isn’t sure how to handle that. Meanwhile, Craig is new and fun, and clearly likes Liz. Is the temptation too strong?! Can Liz resist breaking Evan’s heart?! WHAT WILL SHE DO?!

Liz seems to be telling these stories of a confused heart in reverse chronological order. In this issue, we meet Craig, who Liz’s current beau is jealous of. In issue 2, Craig is the jealous one, and it’s interesting to see the shift in the same character’s attitudes. Liz sets up some pretty precarious situations, which depending on which team you’re rooting for will having you holding your breath in fear, or yelling “kiss the dude!”
