No Gods. No Dungeon Masters. is a quick and messy essay on the intersection of two seemingly unconnected subcultures: political anarchism and Friday-night games of Dungeons and Dragons! Through short vignettes, the surprising similarities and vast differences between gaming and anarchy are illustrated with grand energy by both Io (the writer), and Rachel Dukes (the artist).
Each page bursts with colorful ideas and drawings, and covering issues that could fill an entire zine. The overall thesis is of the importance of embracing your own niche -made up of your disparate passions- and finding those who orbit that same magical star.
A version of No Gods. No Dungeon Masters. originally appeared in Ninth Art Press’ Anthology, Subcultures, edited by Whit Taylor.
This version is published by Silver Sprocket Bicycle Club.
