Description
A Night on Alcatraz is easily the heaviest of the Chronicle of Fortune, dealing loosely with prison politics, and overtly with native american land rights. When familial infighting cancels her Grandfather’s funeral, Edith May is stranded in San Francisco, and decides to visit Alcatraz.
Edith May, and later her alter-ego, Fortuna are confronted with several ghosts from the island’s tormented past: the prison’s residents & employees, as well as the native americans who occupied the land after the prison’s closing. Fortuna must also learn how to handle her anger, which rages like the waves that crash against Alcatraz’s rocks.
