In the second issue of Tori A. Rielly’s Waxfellow series, the residents of the deep-space outpost Danicus have reached 2,000 days since landing. Local engineer, Alma is doing a great job fixing things (sometimes without asking if the thing needs fixing), but is having trouble finding friends outside of their sister, whose duties as the leader of the settlement often make her unavailable and distant.
Meanwhile, someone is sneaking out after curfew, and no one is sure who this mysterious person is or what their intentions are.
Tori’s drawings are bright and fun, and their character development is deep. The more we learn about Danicus, the more interested we become in the mysteries hiding under its surface!
