Ezra Claytan Daniels’ science fiction comics grapple with large philosophical questions of humanity and self. His storytelling is engrossing and nuanced while the issues he deals with will leave you unsettled and contemplative. If that wasn’t enough, Ezra then integrates a level of multimedia through a great deal of his work -whether it’s his massive illustrated opera, Black Violet, or his interactive digital comic for iPad and iPhone, Upgrade Soul- in a way that does not seem tacked-on, but inseparable from the composition.
