King Ray feature

King Ray

King Ray is an Ignatz-nominated cartoonist and writer living in White River Junction, VT. Their work addresses identity and modern anxieties, often within horror or poetry comics. Some of their work includes Phonestoned, for which they got their Ignatz nomination, the MICE mini-grant awardee The House Was Vile, and My Beast, My Friend.

King is working on their MFA from the Center for Cartoon Studies and has a BFA in Film & Television from New York University. They’re currently working on a collection of horror comics, both comic essays, and short comic stories.

King also teaches and runs The Gutter, a bimonthly comics newsletter. They love hiking with their dog and collecting far too much tea that they only sometimes drink.
