Description
In A Village Called Makkoi by Kruttika Susarla, a terrible storm has thrown life in a quiet village out of whack. Several different residents are trying to help the plants, animals, and people get back on their feet, but their isolation and suspicion of each other is allowing a sickness to spread.
Beautifully drawn, with deliberate use of color, Kruttika’s story slowly reveals itself and its secrets. A narrative tight-rope walk that blossoms into bigger ideas of interdependence and ecological restoration. Kruttika also includes a map of the village, which is always a fun component a story, but in this case is a useful reference, and adds to the themes of the comic!
