Description
In Ever-Present Thoughts, Erika J reviews the thoughts she thinks every time an unarmed person of color is murdered by the police. Paired with many of the thoughts are self-portraits by Erika. Drawn as people reacted to the murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, the choice to draw self-portraits, rather than imagery of protests or police violence, Erika invites readers to sit with these all too common thoughts.
This straight-forward comic centers the humanity that racism and police violence attempt to deny people of color, and black people in particular.
