Description
Loculus by RSP is a hand-made Art Zine that features a visual essay on a theme. The ideas inside are wide ranging and provocative and intended to inspire thought and action. In issue one, RSP investigates how technology-assisted art has the tendency of creating an “illusion of significant results (IOSR).” The risk being one can make art that might be seen as “exciting” or “complete,” when it is in fact devoid of meaning or sincerity.
This is a dilemma that has been discussed by artists and designers long before “AI art,” but one that is now accelerated. What happens when the the ability to create an image no longer runs up against one’s limitations as a human to create interesting results? Are we google searching ourselves to a flattened visual language? Hand lettered and collaged together, Loculus explores some deep questions about craft and the purpose of art making.
