The Root and Toot Jug Band is a wonderful, whimsical story with humor and heart. Every single page is illustrated amazingly with beautiful watercolors. The simple and extremely charming character designs also give an intense, lovely contrast to the masterfully created landscapes and skylines that dot the short but wonderful journey the two protagonists make. Meebob’s work is akin to that of Winsor McCay’s mastery of perspective ala “Little Nemo”, and his humor is very close to the modern sensibilities of popular shows like “Adventure Time” or “The Midnight Gospel”- a little silly, a lot of fun, and always extremely heartfelt. This is a great book, for all ages, and I can’t wait for more.
