Description
In Wedding Juice and Other Melodramas No. 2 by Sanika Phawde, many familial and social pressures are taking control of Sanika and John’s wedding away from them! The two are traveling from the United States to India for a traditional Indian wedding, primarily orchestrated by Sanika’s parents. As the date draws nearer, and more issues arise, Sanika’s anxiety about the multi-day celebration increase.
Sanika’s expressive and detailed cartooning adds a great deal of levity to situations that must have been incredibly stressful in the moment. Sanika is also able to capture tender moments of anxiety and empathy, as the young couple come to grips with what is and is not in their power to control about a momentous moment in their lives.
