Description

Baptism in the Mud by Cam McCafferty is a queer, gothic folklore-esque, 62-page minicomic that centers on En, a living doll who has fallen in love with a human. En believes that the distance they feel to their physical form can be mended by trading their fabric and stitches in for flesh and blood. They’re confident that they can prove to the mysterious goddess of the woods that they deserve to be human.

This comic uses soft, dreamy visuals and rhythmic dialogue to paint a picture of what it’s like to be someone who finds their value in being used. This comic was originally created for the 2023 Shortbox Comics Fair.

“If the idea of uncomfortable lesbian doll sex interests you at all, you should read it. If you’re a people pleaser, ex-Catholic gay, or have ever been fetishized by a romantic partner, you should read it!”
