Description
In Diasporoid, Darya Foroohar explores the complicated relationship she has with her family and her Iranian heritage. As the child of immigrants, Darya feels outside of a culture she belongs to, and experiences shame and embarrassment around it, but can also feel deep belonging when she is encouraged.
Darya attempts to include the reader in the conversation, by using a second-person narrative, but each of her stories are deeply personal, and paints a portrait that shows how inextricable self, family, and larger politics are.
