Description
One of the many things that makes John Porcellino’s autobiographical minicomic series King-Cat Comics & Stories so great is his attention to detail. Attention might be the wrong word to use…love? In this issue’s bookending remembrances, John talks about the little things that made South Beloit, and his cinderblock apartment in it feel so much like home, and he says good by to his girlfriend’s late dog by talking about small moments they’d shared. John catches and points out the smaller details that make them memorable to him, and makes us fall in love with a place we’ve never been and a dog we’ve never met.
Likewise, much of issue 74 consists of a series of vignettes of John noticing things while unable to sleep at night, and a detailed map, listing and illustrations of the bridges in South Beloit. A new bat in John’s girlfriend’s house, and a story about bad B/O round out the issue.
