Audra Stang’s Pale, Sick, and Magic depicts the aftermath of a high school senior’s suicide on his classmates. Lindsey and Melanie are foisted together in the crisis of their mutual friend Mike’s disappearance. Lindsey bullied Melanie in middle school, and any sort of camaraderie exists only in the context of their loss of Mike.
Audra explores issues of unalterable action, regret, and the pain we cause others in this slice-of-life comic. Audra packs a lot of story and emotion into such a slim comic.
