Description
Aatmaja Pandya’s remembers her childhood in Phantom. Aatmaja’s memory isn’t terribly clear about her Queens neighborhoods, but now she’s moved back, and gentrification has changed it dramatically. Aatmaja explores what it means for somewhere to be home, the fleeting fidelity of memory, and the impact of whiteness on immigrant communities.
Aatmaja’s thoughtful and nuanced essay is deftly mixed with fragile and vibrant pencil drawings. The whole comic plays with the ideas of strong feelings and unclear memories to great effect!
