Description
In 2018, John Porcellino had the short-lived opportunity to draw a comic strip for the alternative newsweekly, The Chicago Reader. John shares these strips plus a number he drew after the comic got cancelled in The Collected Prairie Pothole. Each comic is a memory from John’s early life (childhood, teen years, and one or two instances as an adult). Many are recollections of his father, and the music John was learning about at the time.
John is a master of spare cartooning, but the four-panel constraint provides for an interesting form that makes these comics a little different from his regular King-Cat installments. As always the storytelling is sweet and simple, and can leave you thinking about the joys of life and your own personal memories.
