Description
In the Sounds and Seas by Marnie Galloway promises to be a beautiful and magical journey. Entirely wordless, In the Sounds and Seas starts with a creation story, in which three women sit around a giant bonfire, and sing. From one woman, birds fly forth, from the second, Fish, and the third sings out rabbits. These three rivers of animals intertwine, and melt into a giant ocean. Against the ocean is a town, and within the town we meet a woman, who is yearning to connect to those who created her world.
Marnie’s art will amaze and overwhelm you. It carries the story along with clean lines and beautiful patterns. Marnie mixes amazingly detailed characters and settings with saturating swaths of solid black and white. It is impossible not to be drawn into Marnie’s immersive world, but you will be rewarded by surprises on every page and a mystery that will leave you hungry for volume two!
