This award-winning selection of autobiographical comics contains four short stories by Ingrid Pierre. Written during the violence, protests, and pandemic between 2020 and 2021, Secret Black Woman: Peril and Power Mini Comics reflects on the harms of systemic racism from a personal and intersectional multiracial perspective.
The original ‘Secret Black Woman’ series began in 2016 with a webcomic about microaggressions and misunderstandings the author experienced growing up as a Black and Asian woman. For this minicomic series, the author takes a similar approach, exploring small conflicts and hurts to deeper wounds.
