Coco Picard’s first full length comic, Strategies of Being: Illustrations from an Unwritten Essay, collates roughly 70 loose pen and ink drawings to illustrate an imaginary essay about grief. Drawings evoke coping strategies, the mundanity of coping strategies, the peculiar isolation of coping and the absurdity of loss.

Originally published as an artist book in an edition of 50 in 2008 within the visual art exhibition, Bygone(s) at Around the Coyote, Chicago, IL (January 12-March 1, 2008), this second 2024 edition of 200 was printed by Perfectly Acceptable Press, Chicago, IL.
