Description
In 2012 Coco Picard interviewed Xander Marro and Pippi Zornoza, founders of the feminist art collective, The Dirt Palace. This comic is an edited transcription of the conversation. In it, Marro and Zornoza discuss the organizational and structural work they had to do to start the art space, and its relationship with the changes to its neighborhood.
Coco’s drawing and page-design styles apply the perfect visual language to telling the story of a DIY space like Dirt Palace! Drawings of architectural aspects of the building are a bit wonky, word balloons drip into buckets when talking about a leak, and the handmade nature of the space shines through. This is a fun and eye-opening minicomic about art and fellowship!
