Lauren Hinds’ Undiscovered set in Trinidad and Tobago began as a reflection of her own career upon returning home (Trinidad and Tobago) after completing her studies at CCS in Vermont. Gradually the webcomic series began featuring Danielle, a young artist in her early twenties questioning her life choices and decisions to become an artist. Alongside her dream of being a professional artist her unsteady friendships and her search for romance creates confusion in her life. When she gets married and becomes a young mother balancing her art career and being a parent, she questions her choices.

In this handmade perfect bound book and artwork completed using various mediums such as pencil, colour pencil, ink, markers and digital colour. Hinds’ Undiscovered offers a unique storytelling approach that captures a young artist’s coming-of-age moments. Waiting to be discovered and waiting to discover who she can become as she learns about herself. Similar to her “Diary Comics,” Lauren effortlessly weaves the emotional expectations of having an art career with the realities of accepting a path we sometimes don’t choose.
