Description
Lauren Hinds’ “I Can Handle It” features Samara a teen girl who yearns for love, friendship and a wholesome family. While in an uneasy relationship with Joy’s brother, he is able to fill the missing gaps in her life. Samara thinks she can handle everything that comes her way because she has dealt with everything on her own. While the warning signs are in view of everyone else, she ignores these signs and convinces herself she has everything under control. In the midst of her best friend being happy to finally graduate from secondary school and plan her future, Samara is puzzled about her own destiny.
Similar to Hinds’ comic “Float,” Samara’s story communicates the intimate feelings of a young girl’s experience with figuring out life as it comes with challenges and uncertainty.
