We are so excited to announce The Chronicles of Fortune, Coco Picard’s debut graphic novel (and Radiator Comics’ first publishing project) is back from the printer! It’s a real-live book you can hold in your hands, and clocking in at 408 pages, it’s one you can really sink your teeth into! You can order your copy of the book today! Copies are available in stores in Chicago (Quimby’s, Chicago Comics, Challengers & Sector 2337), and are enroute to Buffalo (Gutter Pop Comics), San Francisco (Mission: Comics & Art), and Boston (Trident Booksellers & Cafe)!

We’ve also added a new minicomic by Coco, A Meditation on Light and Land, a poetic comic that combines the texts from the science fiction novel, Solaris, accounts from the Trinity atomic bomb test, photographs of a nuclear explosion, and artifacts from the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. A powerful comic that is simultaneously abstract and narrative, its haunting pages will linger in your mind.

Radiator Comics is proud to announce The Chronicles of Fortune by Coco Picard is available for preorder.

The Chronicles of Fortune follows the life of a depressed and ineffectual super hero, Fortuna, and her alter-ego Edith-May as they spend a night on Alcatraz, discover a talking mountain in their apartment, befriend a crying crocodile, and get swindled into buying a $100 goldfish for its alleged singing abilities. This 400-page graphic novel combines material previously published as a series of minicomics, and new chapters to tell a story of loss, depression, friendship and renewal.

Coco Picard is the pen name of Caroline Picard an, artist, publisher and curator. Coco’s work has appeared in such publications as Tender Journal, Projecttile, Diner Journal, Everyday Genius, and Bicycle Review, and she has contributed multiple graphic adaptations to the The Graphic Canon project (Seven Stories Press). I am happy to announce that Radiator Comics is crowdfunding a 0% interest loan on Kiva US. Kiva is the first and largest micro-lending service in the world that has distributed $709 million over 10 years, in 85 different countries, among 1.5 million small businesses.

I’ve already successfully completed Radiator’s private-lending campaign, in which I received 22 pledged loans in less than 24 hours! At the time of writing this, the project is already 71% funded. Now we need your help to meet our goal of $4,000!

Happy Birthday!

Today is Radiator Comics’ 365th day. That means tomorrow is Radiator Comics’ first birthday! Over the past year, we’ve sold over 1,000 comics by 40 amazing comics artists, and we had a lot of fun doing it! Over the next few months you’ll see us adding more artists, as well as new titles by the folks we already distribute. We’re also laying out the pages for the first book we’re publishing, which should be out in the fall for your tiny paws and eyes to enjoy.

At Radiator Comics’ launch party last year, Ezra Claytan Daniels suggested to me that Radiator offer a subscription service, in which we curate a monthly bundle of comics. and mail them to subscribers. A no-hassle comic-of-the-month style vehicle to get new comics you may have never thought to pick up yourself. I thought it would be fitting for Radiator Comics to launch such a service on our first anniversary, so today we’re introducing the Radiator Pack!
