Fizzle!

This past weekend was The Chicago Alternative Comics Expo where Whit Taylor was a special guest! We rush printed copies of Fizzle No’s 1 & 2 to debut at CAKE. We had 50 copies of each in our hands for a fleeting moment before we mailed them overnight to Chicago.

We’re happy to report the remaining print runs of the first two issues of Fizzle are complete and ready for your orders! We do offer a subscription to the first five issues. If you’re already a subscriber, your copies are in the mail! Subscribers save on shipping costs and receive extra Fizzle-related material between issues!

This Saturday, June 8, we’ll be hosting Gainesville, FL-based comics artist & scholar, e jackson at our pop-up shop for a zine making workshop! It’s at 2pm, it’s FREE and all materials will be provided! 203 NE 82nd St, Miami, FL 33138!

We’re Back!

We’re so happy to have completed out travels around the Midwest, and are back in hot and humid Miami! We’re hitting the ground running with a new comic from Sage Coffey, Wine Ghost Gets a Bathbomb! Sage has perfectly distilled the mixed emotions a lot of us feel when they decide to stay in instead of going out, as well as those when one is out, and really just wants to go home.

Well…we would recommend staying in and reading Sage’s new comic! There! We figured it out for you!

Travel!

Hey! It’s Neil from Radiator Comics. Starting June 21st, I’ll be slightly nomadic for six weeks, which means updates to the Radiator Catalog might be a little more sporadic (though we’ll definitely be adding new titles!), and our inventory of each title will be lower. There might also be slight delays in getting orders out the door.

BUT!

You should still order comics if you are interested, and I’ll get them in the mail as quickly as possible!
I’ll mostly be back in Chicago for July. I’ll also be spending a week as an artist in residence at ACRE in southern Wisconsin!
Radiator Comics will be tabling at the Urban Garden Night Market in Chicago on July 28th! Come out and say hi!
I’ll be back in Miami at the beginning of August, with our full inventory, and a lot of fun announcements about upcoming projects and events!

We are back!

I really wish I didn’t have to ever post a “we’re back” announcement on the Radiator Comics website, but here we are! After the whirlwind of a festival CAKE was in June, we almost immediately started packing our bags to move to sunny (and hot and humid) Miami, Florida! And just as we were unpacking our boxes, and getting Radiator back up and running, we had to load up our car, and head north to avoid the historic hurricane Irma! Miami and our tiny corner of it fared very well, and our thoughts are with people in Houston and especially Puerto Rico and other Caribbean Islands hit hard by hurricanes Harvey, Irma, José and Maria.

We are really happy to be back doing what we love to do, spreading the word about fantastic self-published comics like Isabella Rotman’s latest minicomic, Long Black Veil! Based on a folk song from the 60’s, Isabella has recruited singer/songwriter Jenny Owen Youngs to help put her own unique spin on the murder ballad. Of course it’s a great little nugget from Isabella, and it’s enhanced by an accompanying cover of the song by Jenny, which can be heard/seen on her website here.

We’re Moving To Miami

Our entire catalog of comics, zines, graphic novels, prints, greeting cards, buttons, and tote bags are packed up into boxes, and are in transit from Chicago to Miami! We will be apart from these awesome comics for a couple weeks as we and they take separate paths, winding southward from the Midwest to the East Coast.

That means we will be unable to fulfill any orders that come in until August 18. Please feel free to place orders before then, and yours will be one of the first to ship from our new home!

 
Chicago is a very special place for self-publishers and is a great home for several small-press communities. If you’re into comics-making, zine-shaking, and book-quaking, we highly recommend spending some time in the windy city. We are indebted to far too many people and institutions to name for years of education, mentorship, friendship, and support.

We really look forward to getting to know Miami, its creative communities, and how we can plug into the scene there.
